RMS Principal Leaving Region 15

Rochambeau principal Anthony Salutari leaving Region 15 for same position at Daniel Hand High School.

Rochambeau Middle School principal Anthony Salutari will leave the Region 15 school district to take a position as principal of Daniel Hand High School in Madison, effective July 1.

Salutari will replace Daniel Hand High School principal Barbara Britton who announced her retirement this year after 23 years of service to the Madison Public Schools, according to a release from the region.

“I’m going to miss the relationships with the school community which we’ve built over the last seven years,” said Salutari. “This includes the students, staff, parents, and our administrators. Rochambeau is a high quality place.”

Salutari, who also worked as principal of Thompson Middle School and as assistant principal of Mary R. Fisher Elementary School, both in North Grosvenordale, started his career as a health education teacher in Redding and North Branford, according to the region.

Salutari holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and sixth-year diploma in educational leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.

Region 15 Superintendent of Schools praised Salutari for his service.

“Congratulations and a salute to Mr. Anthony Salutari, the new principal of Daniel Hand High School. For the past seven years, Anthony led Rochambeau’s march to instructional excellence with utmost professionalism; he leaves a very positive legacy. I have no doubt the citizens of Madison will come to feel similarly,” said Dr. Frank Sippy. “Mr. Salutari is a valued colleague; I wish him much happiness and professional success in the future.”

Christine Koobatian, president of the Rochambeau Middle School PTO, who has worked with Salutari for three years, echoed Sippy’s sentiments.

“What makes Mr. Salutari so special is the way he handles all situations fairly, directly, and honestly,” said Mrs. Koobatian. “While we are so sad about his resignation, he deserves this great move and we are all very grateful for his many contributions to RMS.”
