Greater Waterbury Residents Needed to Help Finish the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Breast cancer survivors, caregivers, friends and families are encouraged to become involved in the inaugural Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of  Greater Waterbury taking place at Library Park on Sunday, October 19, 2014. The Greater Waterbury community is needed to help change the course against breast cancer forever by getting involved in the Society’s premier breast cancer awareness event by forming or joining a team, raising crucial funds, or volunteering for the event.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation uniting more than 300 communities in the fight to end breast cancer. The dollars raised fund groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer; ensure access to mammograms for women who need them; and provide free resources and support to those who turn to the Society for help and support, including transportation and lodging during treatment.

“Making Strides Against Breast Cancer unites us to walk together as the most powerful force to end breast cancer,” said Hannah Charry, specialist for community events with the American Cancer Society. “The progress we are making is remarkable, but we need volunteers to help us finish the fight.”
