The wind was blowing harsh outside, however this did not stop the dedicated fans of the Connecticut Master Chorale from coming out to hear their next masterpiece of songs at their Holiday Prelude Concert on November 24th at the First Congregational Church in Danbury.

The concert began with an assembly of finely hand pick songs telling the story and celebration of the birth of Jesus. The church began to fill with warmth as the music flowed effortlessly from the talented singers harmonizing to an equally talented orchestra. Touching solos were done by flute, recorder, violin, and clarinet, to create a gentle touch of this blessed event.

In the second half, the chapel really began to heat up as the sounds of steel drums and a ukulele, and many upbeat island sounds was brought to life.  These arrangements of ballads exposed us to the very eccentric approach to the holiday season that is celebrated through islands near and far.  The solo by their Accompanist, Joe Jacovino was no less than astonishing.  His great endowments to music lit the keys on fire. Then as the final song, the Southern Gospel favorite “Talkin’ About Jesus” was played, there began clapping, dancing, and a whole lot of energy engulfing the crowd. The conductor, Tina Heidrich herself, was found parading up and down the aisles dancing due to the infectiousness of the magnificent sounds this chorale inaugurated.

The afternoon was just a joy to experience and was a wonderful way to kick of this holiday season.

The next time this amazing chorale is expected to perform will be on April 6, 2014 for their spring concert titled “Stabat Mater” by Rossini plus Puccini Choruses”. Be sure to save the date and buy your tickets early. More information about the Chorale is available at www.cmchorale.org
