Pomperaug Health District Travel Clinic Offers Vaccinations for International Travel

If you are traveling internationally, the Pomperaug District Department of Health can help you be better prepared. The Travel Clinic offers all vaccinations recommended for international travel as well as prescriptions for medications to prevent malaria and altitude sickness, and to treat travelers’ diarrhea. In addition to immunizations and prescriptions, clinic staff will provide consultation and recommendations for making your trip safe and healthy.  Vaccinations and prescriptions will be available for both adults and children. The vaccinations are offered at discounted prices for residents of Southbury, Woodbury and Oxford.

The Travel Clinic services are provided by appointment from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 203-264-9616, extension 0. When scheduling your appointment, please have your travel itinerary available.

In order to prepare for your appointment, the clinic staff must have certain information regarding your travel: itinerary, type of lodging, activities, etc. We can obtain this information when you call for an appointment or you can save time by filling out the Personal and Trip Information Form form ahead of time. It is available on the Pomperaug Health District Website, www.pomperaughealthdistrict.org.

The Pomperaug Health District recommends that travel clinic visits be scheduled early, preferably four to six weeks prior to you departure. This will ensure maximum protection from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Prior to your appointment, there are health history questionnaires to be filled out for each person who will be travelling. The questionnaires, along with other travel health information, are available on the Pomperaug Health District website, www.pomperaughealthdistrict.org.
