"What's Up at the Bent" Free Program April 8 at Southbury Library

“What’s Up at the Bent”, Tuesday, April 8, 7:00 PM in the Kingsley Room of the Southbury Library, 100 Poverty Road in Southbury. Join the staff of the Audubon Center at Bent of the River at 185 East Flat Hill Road in the South Britain hamlet of Southbury, off Route 172, to learn land management practices to attract birds and other wildlife.

The Audubon Center at Bent of the River land management staff will provide insights on how residents can improve their landscapes to provide better habitats for birds and other wildlife. Topics will include the Bent’s forest monitoring program, bird banding, the Bent’s Bluebird Trail and Pomperaug Restoration Project, invasive species removal, native plants for landscaping. Focus of conversation will be on shrub and grassland habitat species including butterflies, dragon flies and plants they require to survive and thrive. Presentation will be ideal for homeowners interested in improving their gardens and landscape for wildlife.
