Wine & Beer Tastings This Saturday by Lake Wine & Spirits at Woodbury FFA Fundraiser

This Saturday, June 7, Lake Wine & Spirits in Southbury will be a supporting sponsor of the Woodbury FFA - For the Future of Agriculture - fundraiser, “A Toast to Summer 2014”. The event  will be held at March Farms at 160 Munger Lane in Bethlehem from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Lake Wine & Spirits is Southbury’s oldest liquor store, founded in 1947. Proprietors Jeff and Patty Raether are celebrating the store’s 67th anniversary by selling a wide range of international wines, beers, spirits, and a top-notch selection of Connecticut-brewed craft beers. On Saturday, as the exclusive wine and beer servers at the FFA fundraiser, they will provide attendees with a variety of wine and craft beer tastings.

At the event, Lake Wine & Spirits will have 8 distributors helping them provide 40 to 50 wine selections from around the world on 6 wine tables. There will also be  2 craft beer tables. “This is the first year we have been invited to be the sole wine and beer server at this very popular, 200-plus attendee fundraiser event," stated Jeff Raether. "Funds raised will go towards scholarships for Nonnewaug High School students. We are delighted to be part of such a worthy ambition, and we’re confident we’ll be serving something that pleases everyone who stops by our tables.”

Raether explained that Lake Wine & Spirits carries over 2,500 wines from wineries on every continent. “We take great pride in our selection of wines. Our staff is very educated in wine and we taste every individual wine before we offer it in our store. We pride ourselves on our fantastic selection of wines. We carry many wines that are featured on the “Wine Spectator Top 100” list, including: Bordeaux, Brunello, Barolo, Cabernets, Chardonnays, Amarone, Cote De Nuits, Chablis, Pauiliac, St. Emilion, and Puligny Montrachet.

Katie Miranti, Lake Wine & Spirits General Manager commented that, “In addition to the popularity of our variety of wines, we are receiving many requests for specialty craft beers brewed in small Connecticut breweries. Hops and barley enthusiasts are really enjoying drinking these locally-brewed beers as many of them have actually gone to the breweries and watched the production process. To serve the expressed  support for craft beer, we started a special craft beer e-mail newsletter and send ongoing e-mail notifications to keep our customers up to date on new beer releases, new beers we stock, and beer tasting events.”
