Annual Fine Art Festival Coming to Southbury Green

Southbury Fall tradition will return for the eight year later this month.

The autumnal tradition that is the Southbury Women’s Club Fall Fine Arts Festival will be returning for its eight year later this month.

The juried event, sponsored by ShopRite and Newtown Savings Bank, will take place on the Southbury Green on Main Street South on September 22 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Area residents can shop for fine art and handcrafts and listen to Changes Urban Instrumental, a band featuring funk, jazz, rock and blues. As in years past, one hundred percent of event proceeds will benefit local charities.

“Southbury Women’s Club strives to evolve the event each year, to ensure it continues to provide it’s traditional showing of fine art and handcrafts while providing a little something extra to keep it fresh,” said club member Jennifer Dietrick.

Last year a wellness booth was introduced at the event. Festivalgoer’s were welcome to a complementary blood pressure or spinal health check from Dr. Ernest Marrone II, a chiropractor of Southbury.  Marrone will return this year alongside Caryn Brogan, of Caryn’s Help Hands in Danbury. Brogan will be providing complementary chair massages.

A new element to the event this year is an amateur photography contest sponsored by Ritz Camera of Southbury.

“Contestants are encouraged to bring friends and family to vote and enjoy the many mediums for sale,” said Dietrick.

Prints of entered photographs will also be for sale. Proceeds will be donated directly to Friends of Pomperaug Music.

The club is still accepting applications. Interested parties are encouraged to email FallFineArtsFestival@gmail.com, call 203-706-0724 or visit www.SouthburyWomensClub.org for an application.
