Did You See That Thing in the Sky?

Something bright was seen in the sky over Connecticut and other states too, on Sunday, Jan. 12. Did you see it?

"Did anyone see the fireball or meteor that flew over Woodbury around 5:10 this evening?" Ruth Melchiori asked on the Woodbury-Middlebury Patch Facebook page.

"I was driving north on Rt. 6 just past the light at Sherman Hill when I saw it come from my left low in the sky and then break up and fall down as sparks (just like fireworks)," she wrote.

As of Sunday night, four people on the Woodbury-Middlebury Patch Facebook page said they saw something too. The American Meteor Society is investigating reports from this evening and multiple sightings took place in Connecticut.

"When I first saw it I thought it was an airplane," Chris L. from Naugatuck wrote on the AMS website. "[Then] I realized it was moving way too quick and it had a trail of flames and broke into two pieces."

Did you see something in the sky tonight? What did it look like?
