Southbury's Lucky! Resident Wins $4.8 Million Lotto Prize

Connecticut Lottery officials say this is the second time in two years that a Southbury resident has won the prize.

James Owen just got rich — $4.8 million richer, to be exact.

The Southbury resident hit the jackpot on a Connecticut lottery ticket.

“I finally got around to scanning my ticket in a Ticket Checker on Sunday. The message said, ‘Congratulations Jackpot!’” Owen told Lottery officials. “I knew I won big, but I didn’t know how much.  When I got home, I told my fiancée, Joy, ‘I WON LOTTO!’  She didn’t believe me, of course.  So we went to the CT Lottery website (ctlottery.org) and saw we won $4,800,000.  We laughed, we cried—we were shocked!  We just kept checking the numbers, over and over.”

To read more about what Owen plans to do with the money, as well as where in town he bought the winning ticket, check out the announcement posted on Southbury Patch by Connecticut Lottery.
