Fifth Year Anniversary of New Library Building

 The Southbury Library Public Library is celebrating its fifth year anniversary in the new building at 100 Poverty Rd. on Saturday, May 7th, from 9:30am – 4:00pm. The library will be closed for regular library instead the public is invited to attend the free all-day festivities. Parking is limited, so car pooling is strongly encouraged.  

Registration is not required for programs except for the Teen Craft program.

 To register for the Teen Craft program, please call the Children’s Department at 203 -262-0626 extensions 110, 111 or 112.

There will be programs for all ages. Coffee will be available at 9:30am. At 10:00am, the Women’s Choral group Femina Melodia will give a 20 minute performance in the Brinker Fireplace Room. From 10:30 – 11:30, musician/ singer Brian Gillie will perform his family oriented “Salute to Song in America” program.  At noontime, “Patricia Campbell and The Reel Thing” will demonstrate Colonial Dancing down the main aisle of the First floor of the library.  Participation will be encouraged, so wear your dancing shoes! Also, from 12:00-1:00, Katie Stevenson will conduct a special craft program for teens. At 1:15pm, there will be a break in the action, for a brief cake cutting ceremony. 

At 2:00pm, making his first appearance at the library will be singer/musician Willie Nininger performing his music in the Kingsley Room.

The entire “Uncle John” Ludorf photographic collection will be on display. The Southbury Garden Club will arrange several floral arrangements. The Southbury Historical Society will have a display in the Fireplace room. Weather permitting there will be several vintage automobiles on display in the parking lot for all to enjoy and there will be a “Vintage Equipment” display in the Brown Room.
