Library to Screen Film Based on 'Annie Oakley' Musical

screens the first of its September films at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the Kingsley Meeting Room surround-sound theater, with an infrared listening system available.

Star Betty Hutton appears as Annie Oakley in a 1950 film based on an Irving Berlin musical. Howard Keel plays Frank Butler, the man Annie does, in a way, get with her gun.

Because of licensing and copyright agreements, the library cannot list the titles of the films, which are sponsored by The Friends of the Southbury Public Library, with the videos provided by Connecticut Libraries and Blockbuster of Southbury.
