Trumbull: The Drifters Perform

Where: Trumbull High School, 72 Strobel Rd.

Description: The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band proudly presents Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Thomas and The Drifters. When the "Five Crowns" appeared as an opening act at the Apollo Theater in the late ‘50’s, it was Thomas’ voice that George Treadwell heard before he fired his famous group, The Drifters.  He hastily recruited "The Crowns" to become the new "Drifters.”  The new Drifters first release was in 1959, a song called "There Goes My Baby."  I am sure that there is no need for you to wonder what Thomas’ is up to these days, because "The Drifters" songs are still alive and well. In 1988 Charlie Thomas, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Thomas also received the Rhythm and Blues Award in 1999 for lifetime achievement and was inducted in the Vocal Hall of Fame in 2000.

Description: Weekly topics are designed to encourage children ages 3 to 5 and adults to explore nature, discover art and learn about farming together.
