Connecticut Cupcakes ... And Rob Zombie?

Seems like an unlikely combination, but they are Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes.

These aren't your mom's cupcakes.

With flavors like Beer n' Pretzel, Maple Bacon and the Samantha Jones, cupcakes made by Waterbury-based company Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes are full of sass and surprises.

Owners Nicole and Jeremy Braddock took that sass to the Food Network's show Cupcake Wars.

"We have been in business one year," Nicole wrote on the Hardcore Sweet Facebook page. "Jeremy [co-owner and Nicole's husband] has been wanting to be on Cupcake Wars since before we even started the business and emailed them. Nothing. Fast forward a year: Us getting an email wanting more info on us — and a request for a video..."

As part of the show, part-time Woodbury resident and rocker Rob Zombie is seeking a cupcake centerpiece for his newest project.

"Four Cupcake Wars contestants are vying for a chance to be the centerpiece of the grand opening of Rob Zombie's latest venture, the Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare," according to Zombie's Facebook page.

Hardcore Sweet will be on Cupcake Wars, airing at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

Come November, Braddock said the business will have its own location at 20 Main St., Oakville. For more information, call Hardcore Sweet at 860-417-6660.
