Panera Bread Nears Opening in Southbury

The new bakery-cafe will open on December 5.

After several months of renovations Panera Bread will open for business in the Southbury Plaza on December 5.

The restaurant will be located in the currently empty restaurant space in the Plaza professional building, next to Webster Bank and nearby to The Southbury Music Studio.

The restaurant will offer a warm and welcoming environment including intimate seating areas, comfortable chairs, a community table and free WiFi Internet access, according to Panera officials.

“We are thrilled to open our newest bakery-cafe in such a great community,” said Tom Kelleher Joint Venture Area Director.  “We are happy to offer this community fresh and wholesome food choices; paired with the convenient service their busy schedules demand.”

“New bakery cafe openings are always exciting; it brings a new energy to the community,” said District Manager Tina Lemelin.  “We will be giving away some nice surprises to our opening day customers.”

Among those giveaways will be stainless steel travel mugs for the first fifty customers who purchase coffee. Gift card giveaways will also run randomly throughout the day.

Menu items at Panera include fresh-baked handcrafted artisan breads and other baked goods, hand-tossed salads, soups and signature sandwiches.

The restaurant will have a large stone patio for dining outside in the summer months, and a double-sided fireplace that will provide a comfortable atmosphere during the cold months.
