Southbury Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.9 Percent

Unemployment rates are down in Southbury compared to last year.

According to the latest figures released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, unemployment rates in Southbury are down slightly for 2013.

Southbury's unemployment rate hit its lowest point in November at 5.9 percent, marking the 1st time this year the rate dropped below 6 percent.

February saw the highest rates for Southbury with 7.5 percent.

In 2012, the unemployment rate in Southbury was highest in July (7.9 percent), and lowest in April (6.3 percent).

State, National Unemployment Rate

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people last month sat at 6.9 percent overall. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate is 6.6 percent.
