T.J. Maxx Sets Opening Date for Southbury Plaza Location

Local shoppers take note; a new store is about to be added to your arsenal.

T.J. Maxx, the nation’s largest off-price retailer, has announced doors will unlock for the grand opening of their new Southbury location on Sunday, April 1 at 8 a.m.

The 21,990 sq. ft. store located in the Southbury Plaza will replace Border’s, which vacated the plaza last year. According to the retailer, the Southbury location will feature a stylish, easy to shop layout with lots of designer accessories and salon and spa products.

Grand opening hours will run from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on April 1. Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.

In addition to providing a new shopping option for local residents and area workers, the store will add approximately 60 full and part-time jobs to the area, according the retailer.

“With the addition of the Southbury store, T.J.Maxx is meeting consumer demand for quality, designer merchandise,” said President Richard Sherr in a press release issued Wednesday. “Our newest store will offer shoppers the same designer names they know and trust at prices well below department stores.”

In celebration of its new Southbury location, T.J.Maxx will be presenting a $5,000 check to Safe Haven of Southbury at the opening ceremony.

“We are excited to be a part of the Southbury community and thrilled to be able to give back to the area,” said T.J.Maxx Spokesperson, Laura McDowell.

T.J. Maxx is the second sizeable addition to the Southbury Plaza in the past six months, joining Panera Bread, which opened its doors in December 2011.
