Interior Remodeling at Southbury Starbucks

Less furniture, more open space result of redesign at local coffee shop.

Well, that’s different.

Patrons who walk into Starbucks at the Southbury Green for their morning pick-me-up may not recognize the neighborhood coffee shop.

Southbury Starbucks has been completely redesigned this week, with much more open space and less seating. The partition and oversized furniture chairs have been taken out of the café and all that remains are the wooden table and chairs, now lined up along the walls of the establishment.

So, what do you think of the new design? Are you less likely to go now that it will be harder to find a seat? Do you like the open space the new design creates? Let us know in the comments.

Well, I walked in, stopped and stared for 20 seconds in surprise! I did have to wait at the door for a spot to open up, probably no more than four minutes. Lots of people were talking about the remodeling and most folks said they think the revamping was sorely needed and/or it's too cramped. What do you think, Southbury Patch readers?

It feels like Starbucks is working a carefully researched line with the renovation. They make the seating comfortable enough to sit for 10 minutes to drink a coffee, but not comfortable enough to spend any long amount of time there. Don't like the big communal table in the center. They really could have done better to make it more inviting. Overall feeling not positive.
