Leaders Meet for River Flooding Discussion

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal advocated a regional plan for dealing with flooding along the Housatonic River.

Government leaders from and other communities met this week in Oxford to brainstorm about how to prepare for future flooding on the Pomperaug River and the Housatonic River, which .

The New Haven Register reported that municipal leaders from communities along the river from Milford to New Milford met with U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-CT, to review progress made since flooding caused property damage in many of their towns last September. Blumenthal urged they take a regional approach to the problem.

Representatives from Oxford, Brookfield, Milford, New Milford, Newtown, Seymour, Sherman and Southbury attended the meeting.
