Panera Bread Coming to Southbury Plaza

Panera Bread Bakery and Café will offer free Wifi access and outdoor seating.

Editor’s Note: The following press release was submitted by Gatto Development.

Work will soon begin on a new location of the popular Panera Bread Bakery and Café, which will be opening at the Southbury Plaza shopping center.

The restaurant will be located in the currently empty restaurant space in the Plaza professional building next to Webster Bank and nearby to The Southbury Music Studio.

Menu items at Panera include fresh-baked handcrafted artisan breads and other baked goods, hand-tossed salads, soups and signature sandwiches. Panera Bread Cafes offer great tasting, quality food and serve antibiotic-free chicken, whole grain bread, select organic and all-natural ingredients and a menu with zero grams added Trans fat.

The layout for the Southbury Plaza location is designed to create a warm and welcoming environment. A large outside stone patio is available for dining outside and inside a double sided fireplace will add to the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere during the cold months. The space will have free WiFi access, comfortable chairs and booths and large tables that will work well for business meetings or large groups.

Christopher Gatto, president of Gatto Development and manager of Southhaven Associates, the company which owns and operates the Southbury Plaza, commented that:

“We have been waiting with great anticipation to make the announcement that Panera Bread is coming to our center. Their restaurant is ideally suited for our area and for our shopping center. With its great looking cafe, and with an emphasis on freshness, delicious healthy food options, and affordable price points, this café is expected to be a big success.

Southbury Plaza shoppers have continued to express a strong interest in Panera Bread. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we were able to deliver this needed food and service business to the community. We all look forward to seeing the café open for business this fall.”

The Southbury Plaza shopping center is located at 100 Main Street North in Southbury and is a 300,000 square foot regional shopping center featuring over 20 retailers and services including Stop and Shop, Kmart, Talbots, Dress Barn, AT&T and Radio Shack.

I am so happy to hear this! I was surprised when they backed out a couple of years ago since this location is MUCH busier than the one in Newtown (Sand Hill Plaza). It is a perfect location since many travelers get off to go to Mc Donalds but this is a healthier option. Also many residents will enjoy a healthy food option that is quick and another place they can meet friends.
