Walk of Remembrance for Tucker Gowen [PHOTO GALLERY]

A photo gallery of the walk of remembrance, in memory of Pomperaug High School student Tucker Gowen. Add your photos of the walk to the gallery.

He made every floor his dance floor. His smile was ever-present. He was the most enthusiastic kid in the class, always smiling and always making people feel welcomed into his world and the community.

One by one, people came to the microphone to reflect on what kind of person Tucker Gowen was and it seems fitting that a walk of light remembrance walk took place on Thursday, Oct. 11, at Pomperaug High School, for a person who exuded sunshine and positivity for so many.

Great job by all who shared their experiences with Tucker at the Walk of Light. Each memory more touching than the next. Kudo's to Coach Pentino for sharing his "hammer down" memories. Very moving. Incredible turnout at the gathering. Further evidence of how Tucker touched so many, was seeing the various arch rival swim teams at the gathering, specifically members from the Brookfield Swim Team......life transcending sports. Our thoughts and prayers to the Gowen family.

What a beautiful evening of remembrance and celebration of Tucker. I just have to believe -- I choose to believe! -- that Tucker indeed did a "fly-over" as the spectacular shooting star witnessed in the photo of the lit-up walk. My most urgent and sincere hope is that Tucker's spirit of joy and welcome and optimism that was spoken of so many times last night can stay on at PHS and have a positive, lasting impact on the entire culture of the school. It's possible!

To the person who took that photograph - Michael - you need to make sure that Tucker's mother gets that photo. It's poignant and beautiful!

What a beautiful night dedicated to Tucker...god bless his friends, teammates, and classmates...they did a wonderful job , I know that was not easy for them. I don't know Tucker, but following Luck2Tuck and hearing those kids tell there stories I feel like I did. Rest in peace Tucker.

Tuck was ther brother I never had. He always knew how to cheer me up, even on my worst days. We were best friends from the day I met him. He was my only competition in math during fourth grade. We both moved away atabout the same time, and when I moved back, he greeted me with "MATH BUDDY!!!!" we had a great swim season that year, and great memories in and out of the pool. I love you Tuck. I look forward to seeing you again someday. RIP

My favorite sentiment was how every floor became his dance floor. I didn't know Tucker either but what a bright light he is.

I am so sorry that you lost your best friend, you shouldn't have to deal with such tragedy at such a young age. I know if you keep Tucker in your thoughts during good times and bad ..he will bring that smile to your face that you long for.
