Incumbent First Selectman Ed Edelson has successfully fended off a challenge from Republican challenger John Monteleone, according to unofficial results announced at Republican Campaign headquarters.
The unofficial results, which do not include absentee ballots, put Edelson on top 2,593 to 2,164. Edelson won in districts 1 and 2, but Monteleone took district 3.
Headquarters was quiet as the numbers came in.
"We tried like hell," one campaign worker said.
