Have you seen the green wreaths with the blue bows on them on the red front doors (and the side ones as well)?  We are in the season of Advent and do not use the traditional red and green of Christmas until it is Christmas.  As we have said before, this is a period of waiting, contemplating and expectation.  We will celebrate the nativity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, but we are also preparing for His second coming.  The collect for this Sunday reminds us that God sent the prophets to teach us to repent and  accept Jesus as our Savior.  We ask for help in listening to them, to give up our sinful ways, and wait with great anticipation our Lord's second coming.  As we sing our hymns this season of Advent we sing such things as "Prepare the way , O Zion," and "O come. O come Emmanuel."  We would love you to join us on Sunday at either 8 am or 10 am to join with us as we prepare for the joys of Christmas.

In addition to Advent, our parish bakers are also preparing many, many cookies for our annual Cookie Walk on December 14.  As many of you know, we have a line to get into the sale.  We will give you a container and a glove for your hand so you can Walk our laden tables and pick up your cookies.  Lunch will be soup and half a sandwich for $5 starting at 11 am and the cookies sell for $8/lb.  The Upper Room Thrift Shop will also be open between 10 and 2 for some of your last minute holiday shopping.

Hope to see you in Church at a service or Cookie Walk or Upper Room Thrift Shop!!
