Get to know Epiphany

Welcome to the first post on the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany blog.  For those of you who do not know anything about us we hope to change that.  First of all our address 262 Main Street North.  Often we are referred to as the little stone church with the red doors.  We have been a presence in Southbury since 1843 and our building has been here since 1865

Inside the red doors you will find beautiful blue ceilings, old pews probably made of local trees, a big original window behind our altar complete with a picture of Bishop Williams who was the Bishop who dedicated our building at the end of the Civil War.  The side windows depict different aspects or Christianity.

Sitting in the pews you will find what we call "cradle" Episcopalians (those brought up in the denomination since early childhood), as well as people from other denominations  There is always room for you in our pews and services are on Sundays at 8 am and 10 am.  While there is no singing at the 8 am service we do celebrate the eucharist (communion) at both services.  We do have music at our second service.  Father Marston Price is our priest-in-charge at this time.

There will be more information on this site as we go along.  Right now we want to let you know about our event on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at noon.  The doors will open at 11:30 with lunch being served at noon.  After lunch we will be entertained by "Big John Hartman" who touts himself as a musician, comedian, story teller, and historian.  He will entertain us for the afternoon with '50's "
Music and Mirth."  If you are interested please call the church office on Monday, October 21, at 9:30 am, using 203.264.8150 for reservations.  All this fun and luncheon is available for $15/person.  Reservations are requested so we will not be without seats for YOU.

We hope to see you on Wednesday for the lunch and entertainment, or next Sunday at 8 am or 10 am.
