The
Christmas season abounds with joy.  Brightly
wrapped packages, Christmas trees, holiday parties, endless, upbeat songs on
the radio and in stores, visits from friends and family and food everywhere!

Yet
each year some people dread the holiday season.  People who know this Christmas will be a
difficult one.  It reminds them of what
they've lost or have never had.  The lost
of a loved one, a broken relationship, the insecurity of unemployment, the
weariness of poor health, the pain of isolation - all these can make us feel very
alone in the midst of the celebrating and spending.  We need the space and time to acknowledge our
sadness and concern; we need to know we are not alone.

For
these reasons, The United Church of Christ, Southbury will offer its annual
"Blue Christmas" service on December 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Come
and share with us this time of special music, scripture, prayer and communion.  Join with us in acknowledging that God's
presence is for those who mourn, those who struggle - and that God's Word comes
to shine light into our darkness.  We
pray you will find hope and peace in this service and comfort in knowing that
you are not alone.  Everyone is welcome.

We
will also be honoring loved ones who died this year by placing a dove for them
on our trees.  If you would like someone
