Small Business Saturday

The 3rd annual national Small Business Saturday takes place on November 24, 2012 (the day after Black Friday).  Although the event is sponsored in part by American Express, businesses do not have to accept American Express in order to be eligible.  Qualifying small businesses must be locally-owned storefront or online businesses with less than $10M revenue.  Other eligibility terms are available at www.shopsmall.com.

Benefits to the businesses include free online advertising and free personalized in-store signage, social media and email templates.  For stores that do accept American Express, consumers can enroll to receive a $25 statement credit for any AMEX transaction made that day (in excess of $25).  Both businesses and consumers can find more details and information on how to sign up for these benefits at www.shopsmall.com.

Last year, over 100 million people came out around the country to shop at independently-owned small businesses on Small Business Saturday. Let’s help launch this holiday season with a tremendous show of support for Southbury small businesses!
