Community Corner

Teen Challenge Event

A group from Teen Challenge, a national substance abuse and

recovery ministry, will be visiting, singing, and sharing at the Ballantine Park pavilion in Southbury on Sunday Aug. 25th at 11am.  There will be a cookout to follow.  This event is sponsored by The Community Chapel and is free and open to the public.  The Community Chapel will be accepting donations for the Teen Challenge chapter in New Haven as well.

Teen Challenge students will share powerful testimonies of substance

abuse, addiction, recovery, and transformation as a part of this 1 hour presentation and although not a professional choir, they will perform a handful of Christian

songs.

Teen Challenge started in Brooklyn NY in 1958 by Rev. David Wilkerson, author of the book “The Cross and the Switchblade” the story of gang life in NYC.  Today there are close to 200 Teen Challenge chapters and centers all over the country offering hope and opportunity to those who struggle with substance abuse.
