Shop Newbury Place Friday and Donate 15 Percent to PHS GradNite

A percentage of proceeds from Friday's sales will go toward a safe, fun graduation party for Pomperaug seniors.

Southbury residents planning to go out shopping Friday should consider stopping by Newbury Place on Oak Hill Road, if they weren’t already. From 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, 15 percent of proceeds from the store will go toward the Pomperaug High School GradNite party, a safe, fun alternative for Pomperaug’s seniors on graduation night.

Customers at Newbury Place on Friday should mention “GradNite” at the register to make sure a portion of their purchase goes to support this community effort.

The fundraiser is part of Newbury Place’s “Pay It Forward” program, which supports several local charities and organizations through similar drives throughout the year.

For those who haven’t been before, co-owner Liz Page described the shop as an “eclectic gift store,” bringing together the distinctive tastes of Page and her two co-owners, Eva Schick and Amy Cameron.

While they do many Pay It Forward drives, the GradNite drive is one of their favorites, particularly for Schick and Cameron, who have children are in or graduated from Region 15 schools.
