"Love is a Cabaret" Brings Special Night of Entertainment to B'nai Israel of Southbury

Special Community Event to Feature Performances by Local Congregants, Drinks & Desserts and Silent/Live Auction with Items from Local Merchants

B’nai Israel of Southbury will bring a little bit of Broadway to Southbury on Saturday, November 9th with a one-night only special event called, “Love is a Cabaret.” The event will feature performances from many members of B’nai Israel’s talented congregation, a delicious array of appetizers, desserts and drinks from local establishments, as well as a silent and live auction of more than 40 items valued at more than $10,000 donated by numerous area restaurants, bakeries, spas, stores and more.

“Love is a Cabaret” will begin at 7:30pm on Saturday, November 9th at B’nai Israel, 444 Main Street North in Southbury.  Cost is $30 per person with advanced reservations requested by calling 203-267-3394 no later than close of business on Friday, November 1st.

“Love is a Cabaret” will offer a variety of performances each carrying the theme of love and relationships.  Congregants expected to perform include: Rachel Albert (Middlebury), Susan Pinsky Bleeks (Bethany), Linda Goodman (Woodbury), Lorraine Luger (Waterbury), Len Ross (Southbury), Barbara Phillips (Oxford), Lisa Segal (Southbury), Michael Sermer (Middlebury), Larry Smotroff (Woodbury) and Ellen Zwang (Woodbury), accompanied by pianist Susan Theodos (Southbury).  In addition to the song and dance numbers, the interactive night of entertainment will include plenty of audience participation such as the "Not-So-Newlywed" Game and “Name That Love Song!”

“We’re very excited to bring the curtain up on ‘Cabaret’ at B’nai Israel on November 9th to showcase the exceptionally talented men and women who are part of the B’nai Israel family and our surrounding communities,” said Margi Sermer, event co-chair. “Special thanks to our performers, volunteers and the many local businesses whose generous donations will make this year’s ‘Cabaret’ our biggest fundraising event of the year.”
