Dr. Vincent J. Garofalo, 82

Vincent J. Garofalo, MD, 82, died Tuesday November 26th, 2013 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury.

He was born in Manhattan February 2, 1931, the son of the late Nicholas and Jenny (Crapanzano) Garofalo.

Prior to retiring to Southbury in 1996, Vincent was a well-respected physician in family practice from 1967 to 1995 in New City, NY. He selflessly served hundreds of families in his 35-year career. Vincent was also the Physician for the Clarkstown NY School District. From 1962 to 1966 Dr. Garofalo served as a Captain in the Army Medical Corp in Germany and in Verona, Italy.

Dr. Garofalo graduated from St. John’s Preparatory in Astoria Queens in 1949, Georgetown University in Washington D.C. in 1953 and The University of Rome Medical School, Rome Italy in 1960.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Borghis (Erler) Garofalo. Additionally, he leaves his son Lucas Garofalo and his partner Jeff Swanson of Boston, MA, his daughter Gina (Garofalo) Tokar and her husband Robert Tokar of Chester, NJ, his grandchildren Evan and Peter Miu, his brother, Nicholas Garofalo and his wife, Rosemary, of Long Island, NY and his niece, Lisa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:30 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 146 Main St. South, Woodbury, CT. Interment will follow in Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd, Airmont, NY Calling hours will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 from 3 to 5 P.M. at the Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. South, Southbury, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Garofalo’s memory to the Lutheran Home of Southbury, 990 Main St. North, Southbury, CT 06488.
