Obituary: Harvey A. Johnson, 80, of Southbury

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 10 at Christ Church Quaker Farms.

Harvey A. Johnson, 80, a life-long resident of Southbury, died peacefully Tuesday, May 7 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia (Kulas) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was born in Derby, son of the late Jessie and Robert Johnson, Sr. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, and a former active member of the VFW. Harvey retired as a foreman from Kerite in Seymour, where he had worked for 44 years. He had also been actively involved in scouting.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he leaves one son, Alan Johnson and his wife, Cynthia of Bethel; and daughter Arlene Roy and her husband, Lucien of Ansonia; 6 grandchildren, Alicia Hoffstadt and her husband, Tyson, Christopher Johnson, Alexander Johnson, Thomas LaBranche, Steven LaBranche and Amanda LaBranche; and one great-grandson, Damian Jovan Ortiz. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Robert Johnson.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Church Quaker Farms, 470 Quaker Farms Rd, Oxford, CT. Burial will follow in Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours: Friday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, CT 06488.
