Come and speak out yes on the Movie Theater

Now, been lots of reason for people say no movie theater. I find lot them to be untrue or unfound claims. They using worst type scared tactic to get member of the zoning commission cave and vote against change the zoning regulation. I would say need do their homework and come logic argument beside it traffic, or the kids.

I have this say about kids what wrong hang out the movies. They seem be saying we don’t want these movie theater because we don’t want them. This not good enough denied someone build something on their property.

Some people only argument is the traffic it will bring to Southbury. This point may not be as valid upon examining the face value. Let start with the traffic study. Some people saying consider the source. Let consider the source. The source contract engineer that did study paid for by the people that want to put in the movie theater, but does that mean the study been done such way to favor the owner of the property? The answer this question much more complex in that engineer firm has it’s own interest to protect at the same time of maintaining a good reputation as good company to conduct these studies. Therefore more like is fair representation of the traffic. With the narrative that support the argument for theater to place at that site.

The next argument is not in my town. If not my town where else should it go? Consider if our town get it we get to regulate and tax it. This win, win because more control you have the better control the situation. Not mention might help with property taxes. This issues was major in the last election with one candidate wanting increase the grand list. This how increase the grand list by allowing people build on their property.

Another point view is arts. Arts is good thing. Independent films are part of the arts. This medium not prevalent as other medium in community because they may not have the theater space to conduct such and art. However Southbury is lucky have person will put such place of the arts in community. This theater will only serve to enrich the community, by allow birth of new ideas and grow.

Another argument to support the theater is that will have a theater for the hearing impair. This means the disabled go see movie too. Having this feature means that movie theater will be complying with the American Disability Act of 1990. Mean other people could normally go other theaters can come to Southbury’s movie theaters too.

This movie theater is  good for local economy. Any action can taken grow the economy in these tough economic time good thing. To not allow this lot sit vacant is wrong move because vacant increase crime just same. This theater will also allow are local money to stay locally and get money from other people in sounder towns.

Therefore the question before the zoning commission in modify current zone regulation to allow in same space current theater permit under current zoning regulation to allow 8 screen inside space 2 that is permitted. This change is minor, but all not major one at the same time. There befit to divide the space in this manner. The first being more films can be shown. The second but more important reason why it strager the traffic in and out compare massive exit from 2 large screen. Another reason to support the theater that is going in is that bring in money to town and keep local money in Southbury.   The next reason support the theater it show independent films, come the big mainstream films shown in the big movie theater in Danbury, and Waterbury.  This good for the arts  yes the arts. Arts are key component to a community. These place allow for new ideas to be born and grow. This good thing for Southbury because new economy system is coming to town help old economy out.  For all these reason change will  only add to the community.

The public hearing will be at 7:30 pm at Pomperaug High School  on Wednesday 15 of January.
