John Monteleone, Who Is He And Where's He Hiding?

Where is the republican candidate for Southbury First Selectman? We know he exists because we've been able to see his political experience unfold before our eyes this year. Monteleone has attended a grand total of 6 meetings of the Charter Revision Committee, his political experience in a nutshell.

We're told Monteleone was a corporate kingpin yet he stopped working for DuPont in 1986/87, over 25 years ago. Since then we have public records showing us a series of attempted business ventures including the latest which closed several days after he announced his candidacy. There was even one Internet venture where Monteleone praised democratic Attorney General and now Senator Richard Blumenthal in a press release. I am personally intrigued by the business listed in the 90's that was registered to a post office box and folded the same year the IRS filed its first tax lien against Monteleone.

A search of records in the town clerks office shows Monteleone had IRS liens filed against him in 1997 and 2001 totaling $140,000.00. The republican town committee wants to add this man to an already corrupt finance situation in town. Why would we elect a man who can't pay his federal taxes to be in charge of our tax dollars? After the library debacle which showed the corruption/lack of ethics of the Republican Michaels family and their minions, imagine there being no oversight at all. Wait, we already saw that when the Republican administration of Mark Cooper ignored the library audit reports. Is it a coincidence that Cooper is now the RTC chairman and Monteleone's henchmen talk about "taking Southbury back". To where? A time when republicans made sure all bids and town jobs went to friends and donors and members of the RTC?

Is anyone else curious that we don't hear a peep out of Monteleone but every week there's a letter in the paper quoting him and what he stands for? Why does Monteleone sit by while the uneducated tea party crazy wing of the party embarrasses the entire party in his presence at Board of Selectmen meetings?

Who is John Monteleone? All I know is what I've found in public records research. A man who left corporate America in the 80's, has a series of business failures since, was the subject of two IRS tax liens totaling $140,000, a man with 6 whole meetings worth of municipal government/political experience, a man who couldn't get elected to the Board of Ed in 2011 and a man who hides behind kooks speaking at meetings and writing letters to the editor allegedly quoting him and even engaging in plagiarism.

Monteleone, supported by the same people who gave us Davis. God help us all.
