Say NO to Southbury tax iincreases !!!

When will this insanity stop ? Its time TO SAY NO !! Enough is enough. Each year, for one reason, or another, the mill rate in Southbury moves upward. Isn't anyone in Heritage Village paying attention to this or are you all asleep at the wheel ? How about you folks with no kids in the school system? Do you want to continue getting hosed in order to support a "gold plated education" and lucrative retirement packages for teachers in Region 15 or is there a semblance of reality when considering how to reasonably and effectively fund schools in this town ? Every year, the school system comes hat in hand to Southbury voters and asks for more money. How about doing more with less for a change ? Why is it that a town like Roxbury has a mill rate half of what Southbury charges ? Where is the notion among government and education concerns in Southbury that the taxpayers in this town are required to continually fund a government that has only one objective and that is to spend, spend and spend some more. This town is home to one of the largest elder populations in CT, yet each time that a budget gets voted on where are they ? Not voting is where. I can predict that come 2015 for a tax increase and we get the same old song and dance from the school system and the town says it wants to build a new dog pound because redoing the access ways to the pound didn't work. Hey as a lifetime Democrat, I have no problem paying reasonable taxes for worthwhile (for everyone) projects, but at this point, these mill increases have gotten out of control. Its time to stand up to the town government and the school system and JUST SAY NO to more tax increases in Southbury. Make due with less. Region 15 won't suffer with a 10% budget cut nor will the the town suffer if it scales back services other than the police dept and plowing the roads. Wake up Southbury !! The only ones being methodically fleeced are you folks.
