Upcoming budget referendum

Taxpayers in Southbury and Middlebury need to consider this before voting: Since 2006 Region 15 has lost over 500 students.  Since 2000, the cost per student has more than doubled. In that same time period, we have gone from #133 out of 169 school districts in cost per student, to #32 out of 169 if this budget is approved as requested. We have absolutely no influence on the Board of Education, the PTO, and the Region 15 Superintendent. Our town finance committees can only manipulate the 25% of the budget that is not related to education. Our only recourse is to VOTE NO and send a strong message to the Education Empire. We need a fair and balanced approach to funding education, not an ever escalating tax burden benefitting an ever smaller group of parents. Let the 65% of us who don't have students in the system, have a say in determining the budget.
