Altercations Lead to Numerous Assault Charges in Southbury

The following arrest information was supplied by the Southbury police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Will Gallo, 19, of Southbury was charged with disorderly conduct and 3rd degree assault and Kayla Gill, 18, of Southbury, was charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and 3rd degree assault following an altercation on Sunday, September 9 at approximately 2:31 a.m.

Both parties were released on $500 non-surety bond and were scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on September 10.

Derek Deleo, 42, of Southbury, was charged with disorderly conduct and 3rd degree assault and Lisa Deleo, 44, of Southbury was charged with disorderly conduct following an altercation on Friday, September 7 at approximately 11:02 p.m.

Both parties were released on $2,500 non-surety bond and were scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on September 10.

A bad check was issued for purchased products at Leisuretime on Southford Road in Southbury on Friday, September 7.

Southbury police are investigating this incident.

Sounds like the typical angry boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife domestic disputes. Details like where would be good- might tell some of the story. Seems in domestic cases both parties get blamed no matter what and the wrong person could get a bad rap.

I agree with Candace and believe strongly that too many people are abusing the "domestic violence" laws. Domestic violence is a serious issue and should be treated as such. Boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife arguments should not be classified as domestic violence and the parties should be referred for counseling not arrests that tie up the court system.
