Arrest Made in Middlebury Drug Trafficking Investigation

Police arrested Michael Santiago following a four month investigation.

Middlebury Police arrested a Waterbury man on Wednesday in connection to a drug trafficking investigation.

Police seized a vehicle, cash, and narcotics when they arrested 26-year-old Michael Santiago of Waterbury at approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to a release submitted by the Middlebury Police Department.

Santiago's arrest concluded a four month investigation conducted by the Middlebury Police Department, the Naugatuck Police Department, the state police Statewide Narcotics Task Force and Conn. Probation, according to the release.

The charges against Santiago are:

  • Sale of Narcotics (2 counts)
  • Possession of Narcotics ( 2 counts)
  • Possession of Narcotics within 1500 feet of a Daycare Zone (2 counts)
  • Sale of Narcotics with 1500 feet of a Daycare Zone (2 counts)
  • Violation of Probation (4 counts)
  • Possession of Narcotics
Santiago is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Thursday. His bond is set at $250,000.
