Copper Stolen From Southbury Cell Tower, Mobile Plate Reader Nabs Wanted Man

Copper Stolen From Southbury Cell Tower

Copper buss bars and copper wiring was stolen from a cell phone tower site on 1430 Old Waterbury Road in Southbury between Saturday, July 21 and Monday, July 23.

According to police, entry to the tower site was gained by cutting through a chain link fence.

Mobile Plate Reader Nabs Wanted Man

Harry Tata, 41, of Waterbury was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license, operating a vehicle without insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle after the LPR Mobile Plate Hunter used by the Southbury police observed him driving on Strongtown Road on Thursday, July 19 at approximately 11:46 a.m.

An active arrest warrant was also discovered from Waterbury PD stemming from an incident in 2003.

Tata was released on $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 31.

Police Search for Truck that Took Out Traffic Lights

Southbury police are investigating a one car evading accident that occurred at the intersection of Strongtown Road and the exit 16 off ramp of I-84 west on Friday, July 20 at approximately 2:24 a.m.

According to police, the vehicle is believed to be a large dump truck with its rear truck bed in the air. The vehicle struck two traffic lights causing them to fall in the roadway.

Multiple DWI Driver Arrested

Craig Devine, 47, of Southbury was charged with DWI and operating under a suspended license after police observed him driving erratically on Main Street South on Saturday, July 21 at approximately 11:46 p.m.

According to police, Devine’s license had not yet been restored from a previous DWI.

Devine was released on $2,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on August 1.

Shoplifter Caught at Stop & Shop

Geraldine Sanangelo, 49, of Waterbury was charged with 6th degree larceny for shoplifting groceries from Southbury Stop & Shop on Saturday, July 21 at approximately 3:01 p.m.

Sanangelo was released on $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on August 1.
