Falling Tree Branch Crushes Roof of Vehicle in Southbury

In a fluke accident, a large tree branch fell on top of a traveling vehicle in Southbury Thursday, crushing the roof of the passing car.

According to police, a Southbury man was traveling north on Old Field Road approaching the driveway to Ballentine Pool in Southbury on June 27 at 9:57 a.m. when a large branch broke off a tree on the side of the road and crushed the roof of a 2004 Subaru Forester.

No injuries were reported, but there was damage to the vehicle and it needed to be towed. Police listed the cause of the accident as an “Act of God”.
