A Southbury business sold tobacco to a minor during an undercover inspection last week, according to police.
On Feb. 27, at approximately 11:36 a.m., Southbury Police assisted the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and the Tobacco and Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP) in conducting an unannounced compliance inspection of the Kiran Mart, 1450 Southford Road in Southbury.
According to police, an underage youth employed by the TPEP entered the store and successfully bought tobacco products from Moniruzzaman Mir.
Mir was issued an infraction for sale of tobacco to a minor.
