Man Caught Stealing Baby Formula at K-Mart, Southbury Woman Charged With Assault

The following arrest information was supplied by the Southbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Isreal Santiago, 48, of Waterbury, was charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and sixth-degree larceny on Dec. 4 at approximately 3:30 p.m.

According to police, Santiago was observed shoplifting six cans of baby formula from K-Mart, 100 Main St. North, Southbury. When confronted by loss prevention outside the store Santiago assaulted the loss prevention employee and attempted to escape. Loss prevention was able to detain Santiago until police arrived and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Santiago was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 12.

Elizabeth Tevolini, 40, of Southbury, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct on Dec. 3 at approximately 9:30 p.m. following a verbal and physical altercation at her residence.

Tevolini was released on $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 4.
