The homeowner, Larry Janesky, was quoted in the Courant as saying that earlier notions on foam insulation causing the fire are not correct.
The fire began on Thursday, July 3, and firefighters were on scene throughout the evening and into Friday, July 4. The majority of the home was burned to the ground.
The Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department and firefighters from neighboring towns were present.
