Police: Man Hid Syringes in Salad Bowl in Southbury

Man also had heroin and burnt spoons when stopped by police in Southbury.

Mark Campea, 22, of Montrose, NY, was charged with illegal possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and interfering with an officer on August 3 at approximately 1:55 a.m.

According to police, Campea was the passenger in a vehicle pulled over for speeding on Interstate 84 west in Southbury. Upon investigation police found two used syringes in a bowl of salad that Campea was holding. A further search led police to find two bags of heroin and two metal spoons with burnt white residue on them.

Campea was held on $2,500 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on August 5.
