Resident's Report of Erratic Driving Leads to Oxycodone Arrest

Southbury Police say the Oxford man was illegally in possession of Oxycodone.

A 25-year-old Oxford man was arrested Dec. 7 in a Southbury shopping plaza parking lot on a felony drug charge.

According to Southbury Police, Officer Anthony Armeno responded to 1450 Southford Road at 4:29 p.m. that day on report of an erratic vehicle, described as a Nissan Maxima, in the parking lot. Among the stores in the plaza are Newtown Savings Bank and Dunkin' Donuts.

Officer Armeno located the vehicle and noticed that the operator, who police identified as Matthew Matey, of 6 Whitegate Road in Oxford, was fidgety and reaching around the car, according to police. The officer observed four small blue pills, determined to be Oxycodone, in the center console, police said.

Matey was placed under arrest and charged with illegal possession of narcotics, a felony, and possession out of a container.

He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 19.
