Southbury Family Still Seeking Answers to Loved One's Death

One year after Jay Harper died on a Florida beach, his family continues to try and find out what happened.

Jay Harper's family will not give up on trying to find out what happened to him.

On Monday, they returned to the Florida beach where his body was found a little more than a year ago, on Oct. 17, 2012. While the 47-year-old's death remains a mystery, investigators do suspect foul play.

"We want to know what happened to my husband," Karen Harper, Jay's wife, told NBC Miami while handing out flyers in Florida this past week.

Jay Harper, who was executive vice president for Coverall, a health-based cleaning company, was in Florida on a business trip at the time of his death.

According to a police report from the Broward Sheriff's Office, "Harper went to the beach with a female companion sometime between midnight and 2 a.m. October 17. About two hours later, he was found dead. BSO detectives interviewed the female companion, and she is not considered a suspect in the case."

Police have released a composite sketch of a man who they believe could have information in regard to Harper's death (it's included with this article).

Harper, who was active in recreational sports in Southbury, leaves behind a wife, three children, a mother, brother and sister, and an extended family. Read his full obituary here.
