Southbury Man Charged With Strangulation, Assault

The following arrest information was supplied by the Southbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

David Goddu, 55, of Southbury, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree strangulation and first-degree unlawful restraint on Jan. 9 at approximately 3:53 p.m.

According to police, a woman came to the Southbury Police Department and made a complaint regarding Goddu strangling her during an incident that occurred on the evening of Jan. 8 or early morning of Jan. 9. The woman reported losing consciousness during the incident.

A warrant was immediately applied for and Southbury officers went to a residence on Roxbury Rd., located Goddu, and took him into custody.

Goddu was held on $100,000 court set bond and appeared in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 10.

Jeffrey Haxhi, 20, of Middlebury, was charged with second-degree harassment on Jan. 14 at approximately 6:01 p.m.

According to police, Haxhi turned himself in to the Southbury Police Department on an outstanding warrant stemming from an ongoing incident that occurred during most of 2012.

Haxhi was released on $2,500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 23.

Rogelio Martinez-roldan was charged with DUI, operating a motor vehicle without a license and making an improper turn on Jan. 14 at approximately 12:57 a.m. after police observed him operating erratically on Rt. 67 in Southbury.

Martinez-roldan was released on $375 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 23.
