Southbury Man Faces Charges After Carrying Rifle on Main Street

The following arrest information was supplied by the Southbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Michael Hine, 31, of Southbury, was charged with second-degree breach of peace on June 5 at approximately 2:56 p.m.

According to police, officers were dispatched to Main Street North in the area of the Southbury Plaza for a report of a man walking the street with a rifle on his back. Police determined the gun Hine had was an air soft rifle that uses pellets as ammunition.

Hine was released on $5,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on June 12.
