Southbury Police Officer to Camp Out Atop Clock Tower

Officer Grillo to spend day atop clock tower at Southbury Plaza Shopping Center to benefit Special Olympics.

Officer Chris Grillo of the Southbury Police Department, with the cooperation of the Southbury Plaza Merchants Association and Gatto Development, will be conducting a unique fundraiser for Special Olympics Connecticut entitled, "Cop On Top".

Officer Grillo will be perched atop the clock tower, located in the center of the Southbury Plaza Shopping Center Sunday, Oct. 7.  With a goal of raising $5,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut, Grillo will stay on the clock tower until the goal is realized.

Armed with a bucket on a pulley and emergency flashing lights, the trooper will plead for donations that will eventually get him off the clock tower. Grillo will be rising to the top of the clock tower at approximately 8 a.m on Sunday, Oct. 7 and will remain there until 8 p.m. unless his goal is achieved earlier.
