A Southbury woman is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday to face 34 counts of animal cruelty.
The woman, Nancy Boeckel of 1232 Georges Hill Road, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, according to a police report made available on Oct. 15. Boeckel turned herself in at police headquarters after learning of the active warrant for her arrest, the report states.
Her arrest stems from an incident on Sept 26, when 31 dogs and three cats were removed from her residence after a lengthy investigation by Southbury Animal Control.
Boeckel, 60, previously stated that she took the animals in to rescue them and that only she knows how to properly care for them.
She was released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.
