Voted at library at 1 pm - Very smooth and in and out very quickly. Nice young girls in the hall directing what table to go to. My only complaint if it could be considered one - is the signs giving the table numbers were hard to read unless you were right at the table. Need to be easier to read in the doorway when you are looking for it.

I can't stand voting in Southbury. Every year it is an exercise in frustration. I voted at the firehouse today, which has limited and dangerous parking. The other polling station was two buildings down which caused a huge back-up on Main St (I realize there is a third at the library). I counted 16 poll workers at the firehouse, including a person to pass out stickers. Why do we need so many people for one polling location? It's such a waste! In case you don't know folks, they are paid workers, not volunteers. Tax-free. And who laid out the flow and tables at the firehouse? Clearly it was someone who has no idea of the concept of logistics. The only thing they got right was one door for entry and a different one for exit (although both should have been labeled). Voting was a 5 step process, including someone stopping me at the door to look up my street to tell me which table to go to. Why not make larger, computer generated signs for the tables and then you won't have to pay two people to work the door. And why can't the name checkers hand me my ballot? Is it too complicated? Why do I have to get a ticket to get a ballot? My mother is a poll worker in NJ in a town of similar size and they have 6 pool workers at each of 2 locations and handle everything just fine.

You think you have it hard? Think about all the people displaced by the hurricane voting today. Be thankful that we don't have to deal with that mess.

why are you complaining about the poling situations? You are very spoiled people. Sandy victims are out in the cold with no food. At least after casting your vote you can go back to a warm place and eat a warm lunch.

My mother IS one of the hurricane survivors. I have friends that have suffered damages as well. I was in NJ last weekend and am returning this weekend to help 'deal with that mess' as you call it. The wastefulness in which Southbury's registrar's office runs our polls has nothing to do with a hurricane-you're trying to compare apples to hammers. I am entitled to 'complain', obligated as a citizen, because my taxes are being wasted by poor management of the registrar of voters office in my town. If you want to use the hurricane argument, then you should be suggesting we send the excess poll workers to affected areas on our town's dime.
