The demolition of 62 Hunter Ridge Road and "modification" of the Progressive Roadway Management contract will be discussed and action will be taken.

The council will decide whether or not to contract with T.M. & K. Company, LLC, to raze the house on 62 Hunter Ridge Road, which was destroyed by fire and has since become a blight in its neighborhood.

Roadway Management is the consultant hired to assist the town in planning to improve its roads. The Council is expected to vote on modifications to its existing contract.

The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers of Town Hall.

Certanly $700 isn't a lot of money however some people can be bought off with this amount.

You wrote in your opening post: "It appears to me to be a "quid pro quo" donation for a raise in Roadway Management administrative fees..." That certainly sounds like you've made an implication. There's certainly no proof of such a relationship at this point. If other people are jumping to a conclusion, it is because you put it out there first.

Joey, Joey, Joey! Take your finger out of the lamp socket. You are beginning to rival Hamlet with your mutterings.

In the spirit of good government, I want to post an update. I have been speaking with the town attorney regarding the fact that administrative fees can be assessed up to $80,000. This amendment appears in the schedule B notes. It was not in that section in the May 15, 2010 final version that I have. The town attorney was very cooperative and is sending me his version of the final contract so we can compare notes and show me where it was in the old contract. There is also the matter of the built in 9% mark-up which was to include administrative fees. It is unclear if the $80,000 fees fall under the 9% or are separate. If I am wrong I will admit it. All other facts remain the same. Further, a letter went out today explaining that the demolition contractor wanted the contract signed today and the Roadway Management Amendment was just tacked on. I actually hope this is the case. However, I still object to a special meeting being called on Friday afternoon when town hall closes early on Friday and there was still power outage. Also, I feel the public should be able to comment and we could a more detailed explanation of these amendments. My goal is to save Monroe money, which is why I wanted to bid out this contract originally.

Thank you Ms. Mount. I still don't really understand how this special meeting is being allowed regarding the discussion of the Roadway Mgmt contract. The R's will get away with this even if it isn't being handled in a legit fashion - they always do, because someone always accuses the other party of 'stirring the pot' and the majority of voters don't read this stuff anyway. So the R's can just laugh all the way to the polls AND the bank.
